Summer's End

I remember so vividly, when I was young,
Summer vacation and summertime fun...
The sense of freedom, and time to pursue,
So many adventures, yeah so much to do...

When August runs out,
September begins...
There's something so sad...
About summer's end...

Riding bikes or swimming, or just lyin' around...
The sunshine's heat and the locusts' sound...
Staying out until dark in the streetlight's glow...
Was a little kid's world that grownups can't know...

When August runs out,
September begins...
There's something so sad...
About summer's end...

When your youth is gone, and the aging begins...
It somehow reminds me of summertime's end...
Is it really gone...has that time past?
Or will it return, and always last?

When August runs out,
September begins...
There's something so sad...
About summer's end...
