Elm Place School

Way back then it was a different world,
We were just little boys and girls,
Learning new things every day,
Trying to somehow find our way...

And learning wasn't just in class,
With life's lessons that were to last...
About love and hurt and grownup rules,
All of this and more at Elm Place School.

With bodies just awakening,
Like flowers blossoming in spring...
And feelings that we never knew,
And not knowing just what to do...

And suddenly that little girl,
Had eyes that glowed like radiant pearls...
And fired a young man's heart with fuel...
All of this and more at Elm Place School.

And I know the man I am today...
Way back then was pliable, moist clay...
Before the hardening that comes with years...
That cannot be made soft, even by tears...

Have you ever reminisced...
'bout the one who gave you your first kiss?
Or trading dog tags with that one...
The romantic life had just begun...

Never knowing down the road,
The things we'd face, the heavy load...
Life was simple...life was cool...
All of this and more at Elm Place School.

And the grownups we've become today...
Were being formed in sixth and seventh grade...
Misbehaving kids and childish ways...
Making new discoveries every day...

Way back then it was a different world,
We were just little boys and girls,
Learning new things every day,
Trying hard to find our way...

With bodies just awakening,
Like flowers blossoming in spring...
With love and hurt and grownup rules
